Chef Michelle Bernstein and the Sra. Martinez family look forward to welcoming you to our newly opened restaurant to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Jacques Pepin. We will be hosting a ticketed brunch event with proceeds benefitting the Jacques Pépin Foundation.
Jacques Pépin, beyond being a friend to Chef Michelle, has been a mentor and inspiration for her throughout her career and our family is honored to celebrate him and support the Jacques Pépin Foundation.
Highlights
- Sra. Martinez is the newest concept to join our family of restaurants
- The restaurant is a reiteration of the beloved Design District location that was a well-known Miami favorite for years, awarded one of the 20 best new restaurants of 2009 by Esquire magazine, it’s been our most requested concept for reopening since we closed.
- Chef Michelle choose to name the restaurant Sra. Martinez as a nod to her husband and lifelong business partner, David Martinez.
- Specially crafted welcome cocktail served upon arrival
- The event menu will include some of Chef Michelle’s favorite Jacques Pepin recipes

Chef Michelle Bernstein, James Beard Foundation Award-winner for “Best Chef: South” (2008) is a Miami native of Jewish and Latin descent.
With her husband and partner, David Martinez, they own and operate Michelle Bernstein Catering and a host of successful concepts including: Miami Beach cocktail bar, Sweet Liberty; Little Havana’s Café La Trova; and La Cañita and Sra. Martinez, which is set to open in Coral Gables in late 2024.
Bernstein currently hosts two television shows: Check, Please! South Florida (PBS) and the Emmy-award winning production SoFlo Taste (Channel 10). She also partners with American Express to create the menu for the Centurion Lounge at Miami International Airport (MIA) and is a Lexus Culinary Master. Bernstein began the Florida chapter of Common Threads and continues to devote time to the organization in her role as Vice Chair of the National Board.
